We offer courses in four Sessions: Spring/Summer #1, Summer #2, Summer #3, and Winter. The dates that the individual courses run within these Sessions vary depending on the instructors' schedules. There are 'Long Session' courses that run 3 weeks or so, and 'Short Session' courses that run approximately 2 weeks. The course prices vary depending on the equipment required by the instructor.
Courses take place at one of our two Biological Field Stations: La Suerte in Costa Rica, and Ometepe in Nicaragua. Transportation is available between the Stations.
Course dates are scheduled so that they do not overlap and thus a student may take courses in both Costa Rica and Nicaragua consecutively if they so desire. Free room and board at the stations will be provided during the intervening days. We offer discounts for consecutive courses. See "Discounts" in Course Info & FAQ's for specifics.
We suggest that once you are ready to commit to the scheduled class or classes that you apply and send in the required documents and schedule your flight reservations. For travel arrangements, if you don't have a travel agent you can contact Mila Travel. Ask for Sara Erskine 1-800-367-7378. Let her know that you are going to Ometepe or La Suerte. She's informed as to what flights others are taking and the schedule that you need to meet for the class sessions. We recommend that you do not wait until the end, airfare is less expensive if you make arrangements with ample time.
It is never too late or early to apply. However for Summer Sessions it is advisable to apply 45 days before starting date. There's always the possibility that a class may have space after the registration deadline, so check with us if you have doubts. Also when you fill out your application, you may want to indicate a second choice class, in the chance that your first choice course is closed.
