Ometepe Biological Field Station |

Ometepe Biological Field Station is located along on the edge of Lake Nicaragua. You have spectacular sunsets, a fantastic rear view of Volcan Maderas and front view of the lake.

Facilities include main house, kitchen, four student cabins with 16 rooms, staff house, a library/lecture hall (giant tiki hut), potable running spring water and electricity (standard voltage and outlets), boat ramp and dock. Each dormitory cabin is all screened-in and has showers (no hot water), flush toilets and bunk beds for 4 students. The station also has a boat available for emergency transportation. If you like fishing, bring your fishing pole.
The kitchen staff at both stations prepares group meals three times a day. Meals are served buffet style and include a combination of traditional Central American cuisine and also typical North American dishes. Meals include fresh fruit, home made cheese and vegetables, yucca, heart of palm and other foods local to the region. The Lake provides us with a good abundance of fresh fish products and our beef comes from local free ranging animals. Efforts are made to accommodate those with medically related dietary needs. Yes, vegetarians are welcomed with great meals. |
